Approximately 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then discovered multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police state initial examinations indicate the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; officials are presently not informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to solve the incident" and have asked to the public for tips.
A high-ranking representative commented the incident left him without words and required to be addressed promptly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right attack in 2020," he posted on social media, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
