19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a challenging season, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first championship after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court from spring of the previous year.

The win also indicates the Russian has secured 21 titles at 21 different events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my children together, so to secure a title is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

His counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on court had caused commentators to wonder if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

He came back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged break points in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his first ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.

He defended 4 early break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
