Barcelona Ready for Inaugural Match at Upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend

Barcelona have announced they will play at the still-under-construction Camp Nou over the weekend. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Basque side in domestic competition two and a half years since relocating for construction to commence.

“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity but 45,401 spectators will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. When completed, the stadium’s capacity will reach almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. The club said completed upgrades featured an updated entryway for the team plus modern locker rooms.

Preparatory Events

Barça organized a fan-accessible workout on the home pitch in early November. Officials stated they are seeking authorization from European football’s governing body to host the next European match against Eintracht Frankfurt next month at the stadium. Previous fixtures took place in the temporary ground.
